Nerang, Gold Coast
If you live in Nerang or the surrounding hinterland suburbs, our Bundall clinic is just ten minutes east along Nerang-Broadbeach Road. We offer doctor-led Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) in a private, purpose-equipped facility at 86 Ashmore Rd — a quick, straightforward drive from one of the Gold Coast’s most established residential areas.
Nerang sits at the crossroads of the Gold Coast’s coastal strip and its hinterland. It is a suburb known for its established communities, its train connection to Brisbane and its proximity to the natural beauty of Springbrook and the Gold Coast hinterland. For residents considering a hair transplant, that central position also means easy access to our clinic without the need to travel to Brisbane, Sydney or interstate.
Hair loss is a personal concern that affects confidence, self-image and day-to-day comfort. Whether you have noticed a gradually receding hairline, thinning across the crown or more widespread changes, the decision to explore treatment options is a meaningful one. This page explains our approach, who we are and what Nerang residents can expect when they visit our Bundall clinic.
Why Nerang residents choose Gold Coast Hair Transplant
Nerang is one of the Gold Coast’s most accessible suburbs — connected to Brisbane by heavy rail and linked to Bundall by a single arterial road. Our clinic at 86 Ashmore Rd is roughly ten minutes from central Nerang, making every stage of the hair transplant process practical and convenient: the initial consultation, the procedure day itself and the follow-up appointments during your recovery.
But convenience is only part of the picture. What sets our clinic apart is how we deliver care. Every procedure is performed by an AHPRA-registered doctor — Dr Alexander Brooks or Dr Ranadi Vincent — who personally carries out every extraction and every graft placement. This is not a clinic where a doctor designs a hairline, steps out and delegates the surgical work to technicians. Your doctor is present and hands-on throughout the entire session.
Before any treatment plan is discussed, we use TrichoLAB — a diagnostic imaging platform that provides objective, data-driven analysis of your scalp and donor area. Rather than relying on a visual estimate of graft requirements, your doctor works from high-resolution measurements of follicular density, hair calibre and scalp condition. The result is a plan that is tailored to your anatomy and grounded in evidence, not guesswork.
Follicular Unit Extraction — precision and natural results
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is the technique we use exclusively at our clinic. It is a modern approach to hair transplantation that prioritises precision, minimal scarring and natural-looking outcomes.
During an FUE procedure, individual hair follicles are removed one by one from the donor area — typically the back and sides of the scalp, where hair is genetically resistant to the hormonal changes that drive pattern hair loss. Each follicular unit is extracted through a tiny circular punch, leaving micro-wounds that heal to become virtually invisible. There is no linear incision across the back of the head, no stitches and no strip scar.
The extracted follicles are then placed into carefully prepared recipient sites in the thinning or balding area. Your doctor controls the angle, direction and depth of every placement. This level of control is what makes the difference between a transplant that looks obviously artificial and one where the hair grows, falls and moves in a completely natural pattern. The objective is always hair that looks like it has always been there.
FUE is performed under local anaesthesia — you remain awake and comfortable throughout. Most patients find the experience considerably less daunting than they expected. A typical session runs between six and eight hours depending on the number of grafts, and you go home the same day.
Your assessment and treatment plan
Every hair transplant journey at our clinic begins with a thorough, face-to-face consultation. This is a genuine medical assessment, not a sales appointment. The purpose is to determine whether a hair transplant is appropriate for your individual circumstances and, if so, to design the approach that will give you the best possible outcome.
During the consultation your doctor will examine your scalp, assess the quality and density of your donor hair, discuss your goals and expectations, and use TrichoLAB imaging to build an objective picture of your current situation. If a transplant is suitable, you will receive a detailed treatment plan that includes the estimated number of grafts, the areas to be addressed and the expected recovery timeline.
Equally important is what happens when a transplant is not the right option. If your hair loss is still in its early stages, if your donor supply is limited, or if a less invasive approach would serve you better, your doctor will say so directly. We would rather provide an honest assessment than recommend a procedure that is unlikely to meet your expectations. You can read more about the full process on our Your Journey page.
Recovery at your own pace
One of the advantages of living in the Nerang area is the environment you return to after your procedure. FUE recovery is generally straightforward, and the quiet, leafy surroundings of the western Gold Coast are well suited to the rest and calm that is recommended in the first few days.
In the initial days following the procedure, you can expect some mild swelling and redness in the treated areas, along with tiny scabs at the graft sites. These typically resolve within seven to fourteen days. Most patients are comfortable returning to desk-based work within three to five days. Light walking and gentle activity can usually be resumed within the first week, with more vigorous exercise after about two weeks.
For patients who enjoy the walking tracks and nature trails of the nearby hinterland, your doctor will advise when it is safe to return to that kind of activity. The green, temperate environment around Nerang, Mudgeeraba and the hinterland foothills offers a relaxing backdrop for the early stages of your recovery — fresh air and quiet surroundings without needing to travel far from home.
The transplanted hairs will shed within the first few weeks — this is entirely normal and expected. New growth typically begins around month three, with visible improvement from month six onward. The full result continues to develop over twelve to eighteen months as the transplanted hair thickens and matures. Our Recovery Guide and Results pages cover the timeline in detail.
Medical and non-surgical alternatives
A hair transplant is one approach to managing hair loss, but it is not the only one. Many patients benefit from non-surgical treatments either as a standalone solution or in combination with a surgical procedure.
Medical management with prescription medications can slow or stabilise pattern hair loss by targeting the hormonal mechanisms that cause follicle miniaturisation. For patients in the earlier stages of thinning, medication alone may be enough to maintain existing hair without the need for surgery.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is another option we offer. PRP involves drawing a small sample of your own blood, concentrating the platelets and growth factors, and injecting the resulting preparation into the scalp. The aim is to stimulate the follicles and support healthier hair growth. PRP can be used on its own or as a complement to a transplant to support graft health and the condition of your existing native hair.
During your consultation, your doctor will discuss whether non-surgical options are appropriate for your situation and whether they might work alongside or instead of a transplant.
Hair loss affects both men and women
While male pattern hair loss is the most commonly discussed form of hair loss, women experience thinning too — whether related to hormonal changes, genetics, medical conditions or other factors. The emotional impact can be significant, and it is an area that often receives less attention than it deserves.
We welcome patients of all genders at our clinic. The assessment process is the same: a thorough examination, objective diagnostic imaging and an honest conversation about what is happening and what can be done. For women, the pattern of thinning is often different — diffuse loss across the top of the scalp rather than a receding hairline — and the treatment plan is adapted accordingly. Our Women’s Hair Restoration page provides more detail.
Getting to our clinic from Nerang
Our clinic at 86 Ashmore Rd, Bundall is an easy drive from Nerang. The most direct route is to head east on Nerang-Broadbeach Road, which becomes Bundall Road as it approaches our area. The drive takes approximately ten minutes in normal traffic and is entirely along well-maintained arterial roads. Turn onto Ashmore Rd and our clinic is on your right, with private on-site parking available at no charge.
Nerang is also home to a heavy rail station on the Gold Coast line, with direct train services to and from Brisbane. This makes it a natural transit point for patients travelling from further afield — including those coming from Brisbane, the northern Gold Coast or Logan. From Nerang station, a short taxi or rideshare ride will bring you directly to our door.
For patients who prefer the light rail, the G:link tram runs from Broadbeach South to Helensvale, and bus connections from Nerang can take you to Broadbeach South station. From there, the clinic is a short taxi trip. That said, most patients find driving the most practical option for appointments, particularly on procedure day when the session runs for several hours.
If you are travelling from the hinterland suburbs — Mudgeeraba, Highland Park, Gilston or the Springbrook area — Nerang-Broadbeach Road is the natural corridor to our clinic, and the drive is typically between ten and twenty minutes depending on your starting point.
Questions Nerang patients frequently ask
How far is Nerang from your clinic?
Our Bundall clinic is approximately ten minutes by car from central Nerang. The most direct route is east along Nerang-Broadbeach Road, which becomes Bundall Road and takes you straight to our door at 86 Ashmore Rd. We have private on-site parking available at no charge.
Do your doctors perform the full hair transplant procedure?
Yes. Our AHPRA-registered doctors — Dr Alexander Brooks and Dr Ranadi Vincent — personally perform every extraction and every graft placement. The clinical team assists with preparation and patient care, but the surgical work remains in the hands of a registered medical practitioner throughout the entire procedure.
Can I travel to my appointment by train?
Yes. Nerang train station is on the Gold Coast heavy rail line with direct services to and from Brisbane. From the station, you can take a short taxi or rideshare to our Bundall clinic, which is approximately ten minutes away. However, on procedure day itself most patients find it more practical to drive or be driven, as the session runs for several hours.
What technique do you use for hair transplants?
We use Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) exclusively. FUE involves removing individual hair follicles from the donor area — usually the back and sides of the scalp — and transplanting them into thinning or balding areas. There is no linear incision, no stitches and no strip scar.
Do you offer treatments for women experiencing hair loss?
Yes. Hair loss affects both men and women, and we welcome patients of all genders. Women often experience a different pattern of thinning compared to men, and the treatment approach is tailored accordingly. Your doctor will assess your situation during a face-to-face consultation and recommend the most appropriate option.
