Queensland, Australia
If you are looking for a hair transplant in Queensland, your options are more limited than you might expect. Most of the well-known hair transplant clinics in Australia are clustered in Sydney and Melbourne, leaving Queenslanders to choose between travelling interstate or settling for a clinic closer to home without knowing whether the standard of care is the same.
Our clinic exists to give Queensland patients a genuine alternative. Based in Bundall on the Gold Coast, we offer doctor-led FUE hair transplantation performed by AHPRA-registered medical practitioners — not technicians, not supervised assistants. Every extraction and every graft placement is carried out by Dr Alexander Brooks or Dr Ranadi Vincent personally, working alongside a trained clinical team.
We see patients from across Queensland — Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton and everywhere in between. Many have spent months researching clinics in Sydney or overseas before discovering that a doctor-led, AHPRA-compliant clinic is operating right here in South East Queensland, less than an hour from Brisbane.
This page explains what we offer, who we are, and what visiting our clinic looks like if you are travelling from elsewhere in Queensland.
The Gold Coast sits at the southern end of South East Queensland, connected to Brisbane by the M1 motorway and served by its own international airport. For the majority of Queensland’s population, it is easier to reach than Sydney and significantly closer than Melbourne.
From Brisbane, the drive to our Bundall clinic takes roughly an hour, depending on traffic. The Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta receives direct flights from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Bundaberg and other regional centres, as well as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra. Brisbane Airport is roughly seventy-five minutes from the clinic and receives flights from every major Australian city and many regional hubs.
For patients who need to stay overnight — either before their consultation or after their procedure — the Gold Coast has no shortage of accommodation. Our clinic is five minutes from Surfers Paradise and ten minutes from Broadbeach, so there are hotels, serviced apartments and short-stay rentals at every price point within a short drive of the clinic. We are happy to suggest options based on your budget and preferences.
Beyond the practical logistics, the Gold Coast offers a comfortable setting for the early days of recovery. The pace is relaxed, the weather is mild year-round, and the clinic is located in a quiet, professional precinct on Ashmore Road with private on-site parking — not in a busy shopping centre or medical tower.
The single most important question to ask any hair transplant clinic is this: who actually performs the procedure? In many clinics — including some of the largest and most heavily advertised in Australia — the doctor designs the hairline and administers the anaesthetic, but the actual extraction and placement of grafts is carried out by non-medical technicians. There is nothing inherently wrong with a skilled team, but you deserve to know who holds clinical accountability for every step of the work.
At Gold Coast Hair Transplant, the doctor leads the entire procedure. Dr Alex or Dr Ranadi personally performs the extraction of every graft from the donor area and the placement of every graft into the recipient zone. The clinical team assists with preparation, graft handling and patient care, but the surgical elements of the procedure remain in the hands of an AHPRA-registered doctor from start to finish.
We use Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) exclusively. FUE involves removing individual hair follicles from the donor area — typically the back and sides of the scalp, where hair is genetically resistant to the hormone that causes pattern hair loss — and transplanting them into areas of thinning or baldness. There is no linear incision, no stitches and no strip scar. Recovery is faster than older techniques, and the tiny extraction sites heal to become virtually invisible.
Before any procedure, we use TrichoLAB — a diagnostic imaging platform that produces objective, data-driven graft counts and scalp analysis. Rather than estimating how many grafts you need by eye, your doctor uses high-resolution imagery to measure follicle density across your donor area, map the zones that need restoration and generate a precise treatment plan. The result is a quote tied to measured data, not a rough guess, and a surgical plan that accounts for the natural angle, direction and distribution of your existing hair.
Both doctors at our clinic are AHPRA-registered medical practitioners whose credentials you can verify on the public register at any time.
Dr Brooks holds qualifications in medicine (MD, B.Med.Sci), paediatrics (DCH), general practice (FRACGP) and nutritional and environmental medicine (FACNEM). He is an Associate Member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) and completed advanced FUE training under Professor Akaki Tsilosani, one of the most experienced hair transplant surgeons in the world. Dr Brooks has personally undergone FUE himself, which gives him a patient’s perspective on the experience as well as a clinician’s. His AHPRA registration number is MED0002148734.
Dr Vincent holds qualifications in medicine (MD, B.Med.Sci) and personally performs FUE procedures — both the extraction of grafts from the donor area and the placement of grafts into the recipient zone. She brings precision, care and a steady hand to every procedure. Her AHPRA registration number is MED0002308905.

Brisbane is the largest city in Queensland and the source of a significant number of our patients. The drive from central Brisbane to our Bundall clinic takes roughly one hour via the M1 Pacific Motorway, and traffic is generally predictable outside peak hours. If you prefer public transport, there are regular train services from Brisbane to the Gold Coast, with stations at Helensvale, Nerang and Robina all within a short drive or rideshare of the clinic.
Many Brisbane patients have their initial consultation on one visit and return for the procedure on a separate day. The procedure itself typically takes between six and ten hours depending on the number of grafts, so most patients prefer to start early in the morning. You can usually drive home to Brisbane the same evening — though we recommend having someone else drive, as you will have been under local anaesthetic for an extended period and may feel tired.
Alternatively, some patients choose to stay on the Gold Coast for one night after their procedure, particularly if they want to attend a next-morning check-up before heading home. Accommodation near the clinic is plentiful and ranges from budget-friendly options to premium beachfront hotels.
For many Brisbane residents, our clinic offers a meaningful advantage over flying to Sydney or Melbourne: the same standard of doctor-led care with AHPRA-registered practitioners, without the cost and disruption of interstate travel, time off work for flights and accommodation in an unfamiliar city, or the difficulty of attending follow-up appointments weeks or months later.
The Sunshine Coast is roughly a two-hour drive from our clinic, or you can fly into the Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta and drive or take a rideshare the remaining thirty minutes to Bundall. Some Sunshine Coast patients also choose to fly into Brisbane Airport and drive south on the M1.
Like Brisbane patients, many Sunshine Coast visitors split their journey into a consultation visit and a separate procedure day. For the procedure itself, we generally recommend staying on the Gold Coast for at least one night so your doctor can review your grafts the following morning before you travel home.
The Sunshine Coast has a growing population and a limited number of specialist medical services, particularly in cosmetic and hair restoration medicine. Rather than travelling to Sydney or settling for a clinic without verifiable doctor-led credentials, Sunshine Coast patients can access the same level of care within their own region of South East Queensland.
We regularly see patients from regional Queensland — Townsville, Cairns, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Toowoomba and beyond. For most regional centres, the Gold Coast is reachable by a direct flight to either Gold Coast Airport or Brisbane Airport, followed by a short drive to the clinic.
Getting here: Gold Coast Airport (OOL) receives direct flights from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Rockhampton and other regional centres via Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Bonza. Brisbane Airport (BNE) is an alternative, roughly seventy-five minutes from the clinic by car. Both airports have rental car desks and rideshare pickup.
Accommodation: We suggest staying within ten minutes of the clinic — Surfers Paradise, Broadbeach and Bundall all have a wide range of options. For the procedure, we recommend arriving the evening before and staying at least one night afterwards so your doctor can see you the following morning.
Follow-up: Your first post-procedure review is typically the morning after surgery. Subsequent follow-ups can often be managed by phone or video call, with in-person visits scheduled at intervals that suit your travel. We understand the logistics of regional travel and work with you to minimise unnecessary trips.
For patients travelling from far north Queensland, we know the journey is a significant commitment. That is one of the reasons we encourage a phone or video conversation as a first step — it allows your doctor to see your hair loss pattern, discuss your goals and give you an initial view of whether a procedure is likely to be appropriate before you invest in travel to the Gold Coast. If we can see that a transplant is not the right option for your situation, we would rather tell you that before you book a flight, not after you arrive.
Patients from Toowoomba and the Darling Downs have the advantage of a relatively short drive — roughly two to two-and-a-half hours via the Cunningham or Warrego Highway to Brisbane, then south on the M1. Day trips for consultations are straightforward, and overnight stays for the procedure keep the total time away from home to a minimum.
Whether you are local to the Gold Coast or travelling from the other end of Queensland, the process follows the same steps.
Your consultation is a one-on-one appointment with your doctor — not a sales coordinator, not a patient advisor. Dr Alex or Dr Ranadi will examine your scalp, assess your donor area, discuss the pattern and progression of your hair loss, and talk through what you are hoping to achieve. Using TrichoLAB diagnostic imaging, your doctor will produce an objective assessment of your donor density and a preliminary graft plan.
At the end of the consultation, you will receive a clear, itemised quote that sets out exactly what is included and what the total cost will be. There is no obligation and no pressure to commit on the day. Many patients take their quote home, think it over and come back weeks or months later when they are ready. You can find a detailed breakdown of what consultations involve and what is included in your quote on our pricing page.
On the day of your procedure, you arrive at the clinic in the morning. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic — you are awake throughout and can listen to music, watch something on a screen or simply rest. The length of the procedure depends on the number of grafts: a smaller session of around one thousand grafts might take five to six hours, while a larger session of two thousand to three thousand grafts may take eight to ten hours, including breaks.
You will receive detailed aftercare instructions before you leave, along with all necessary post-operative medications. If you are staying on the Gold Coast overnight, your doctor will see you the following morning for a brief review. For a full picture of the procedure experience, visit our your journey page.
We understand that not every patient can pop in to the clinic for a follow-up at short notice. For patients travelling from outside the Gold Coast, we structure aftercare around a combination of in-person reviews and phone or video check-ins. The first review is the morning after your procedure. Subsequent follow-ups are typically scheduled at one week, one month, three months and twelve months, though the timing is flexible and we are always available by phone or email if a question arises between appointments.
Most travelling patients attend the next-morning review in person and then manage subsequent follow-ups remotely unless there is a specific reason to visit the clinic. If you have concerns at any point during recovery, you can send photos by email and your doctor will review them and respond. You can read more about what to expect during healing on our recovery page.
It is worth saying clearly: a hair transplant is not the right answer for everyone experiencing hair loss. Some patients are better served by non-surgical options — medical management with prescription medications, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, or a combination of both. In some cases, non-surgical treatment is the right first step to stabilise hair loss before considering surgery later.
We offer non-surgical hair loss management alongside our surgical services, and we are not in the business of recommending a procedure when a simpler, less invasive approach would serve you better. If you come to us and a transplant is not appropriate — whether because of insufficient donor supply, unstable hair loss, a medical condition that needs addressing first, or simply because your expectations do not align with what surgery can deliver — we will tell you that directly and discuss the alternatives.
This is especially relevant for younger patients in their early twenties, whose hair loss pattern may not yet be fully established. Transplanting too early can create problems down the line if hair loss continues around the transplanted area. In these cases, we often recommend medical management first, with a view to revisiting surgery once the pattern has stabilised.
Yes. We encourage patients from regional Queensland or interstate to have an initial phone or video conversation with a member of our team as a first step. This allows us to see your hair loss pattern, discuss your goals and give you an honest preliminary view of whether a procedure is likely to be appropriate — before you invest in travel. A formal in-person consultation with your doctor is still required before any procedure can go ahead, as AHPRA regulations require a face-to-face medical assessment.
For a consultation only, a day trip is usually sufficient. For the procedure, most travelling patients arrive the evening before, have the procedure the following day and attend a morning review the day after that — a total of two to three nights. Some patients combine their trip with a few extra days of rest on the Gold Coast, though this is a personal choice rather than a medical necessity.
Yes. The clinic has private on-site parking. If you are driving from Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast or regional areas, you can park directly at the clinic at no charge.
We structure aftercare to minimise travel for patients outside the Gold Coast. After the initial next-morning review, most follow-ups can be managed by phone, video call or email with photos. In-person reviews are scheduled at intervals that work for your travel situation, and we are always reachable by phone if something comes up between appointments.
